He wrote total 5 novels; Five Point Someone in the year 2004, One Night @ the Call Center in the year 2005, The 3 Mistakes of My Life in the year 2008 & 2 States in the year 2009 and Revolution 2020 in the year 2011. His all novels at launch took the place among the bestsellers. In the year 2008, Chetan Bhagat was awarded by The New York Times as the best bookseller. His book selling broke all Indian record of book selling history. In the year 2009 when he found that he can make a great career out of his interest field, writing then he left the investment banking career and focused all his attention in writing novels. Chetan Bhagat is also named as the Youth icon since he always writes down or shows concern about youth.

2 States: The Story of My Marriage is a novel written by Chetan Bhagat. The novel 2 states is not an ordinary fiction novel but in fact it is the real time story of Bhagat’s own life. This novel is about two people who met at the engineering college and fall in love with each other. But the center point of this novel is how they both convince their families for marriage. The main problem in the story is that they both belong to two different states and so the name of the novel depicts “2 states”. They have to go through many hardships in order to conveyance both of their families. Many conclusions were drawn out of this novel; firstly the boy and the girl should never choose their life partners on their own without their family’s permission. Secondly, even if they choose, they have to plead for long time in front of their families to have a meet with the other ones family. Thirdly the girl’s family should fall in love with the boy and boy’s family should fall in love with the girl. Fourthly boy’s family should fall in love with the girl’s family and only after all this, the marriage of boy and girl can take place with their family’s permission. In real life the girl was Anusha Suryanarayanan who belongs to Tamil and the boy in real life was Chetan Bhagat who belongs to Delhi. 2 States was his fourth novel released in the year 2009. In the novel boy and the girl were named Krish and Ananya.

Revolution 2020: Love, Corruption, Ambition is a fiction novel which is related to a journey of self discovery, love triangle and corruption. In this novel Chetan Bhagat describes about the endless corruption present all over in the Indian Youth educational system like a web. It is about the Varanasi city which is growing up in a new way. This novel revolves around three main characters Gopal, Aarti and Raghav. Gopal loves Aarti and they had crossed all their limits before marriage. But afterwards Aarti fall in love with Raghav who was Gopal’s friend and became his girlfriend. Gopal was poor and not so brilliant boy and so he was unable to attend top college but Raghav graduated from the top college. After completing their education Gopal become rich with his plan of building his own engineering college and Raghav works for social progress. During the work pressure Raghav gave no time to Aarti and so due to loneliness she goes back to Gopal. Aarti again falls for Gopal and they planed to get marry. Meanwhile they thought of making career Raghav’s career and for him it was best to become a Member of Legislative Assembly so that he can do something for nation. And the love triangle carries on ending up with the mission of making Raghav an MLA through Aarti’s family.

The 3 Mistakes of my Life is the third novel released by Chetan Bhagat. It was published in the year 2008. The novel is about the life of three friends. First one is Govind who believes that one day he will become a successful businessman. He thinks that all required qualities for becoming a good businessman is present in his blood. He has inherited all those qualities. Second is Ish (Ishaan) who is crazy cricket player and is known as the best cricket player of his place. He has a young sister, Vidya about whom he is very protective. Third is Omi who is the son of a priest and has no dreams. He is very much influenced by his Bittoo Mama. Now the three mistakes committed by Govind, who is the narrator of his novel is: firstly he advances a huge amount of money in order to open his store at mall secondly, he fall in love with Vidya and thirdly he thought selfishly and took steps too late to save Ali, and because of this Ali’s wrist was destroyed.

One Night @ the Call Center or ON@CC is again a fiction novel. This novel was published in the year 2005. This novels story revolves around six people working together in a call center. The call center was in Gurgaon in Haryana. The whole story happens in just one night and that one night turns those six people lives upside down. The whole time they go through a very dramatic and emotional phase and thereafter they passes through something which was unimaginable and speechless situation, they get a phone call from God. The call came when they were hanging at the edge of life and death. The six people were; Shyam who is the narrator and is in love with a beautiful girl Priyanka, Priyanka who is trapped in arrange marriage plan of his mother, Vroom who is in love with Esha, Esha who wants to become a model, Radhika who is frustrated with his in-laws and military uncle who wants to talk to his grandson.

Five Point Someone – What not to do at IIT!

Five Point Someone – What not to do at IIT! is a novel released in the year 2004. The novel revolves around the lives of three engineering college students. The journey of the three students Hari Kumar who is the narrator, Ryan Oberoi and Alok Gupta in the engineering college is really interesting one. The movie 3 Idiots was inspired by this novel only. Amongst those three one student was just doing engineering because of his parents pressure and the narrator shows him way to do what he wants to do. The second one was afraid of studies and so the narrator helped in releasing his fear. And the third one (narrator) was a brilliant student but hides his real identity from everyone.
