Five rules to become a great person

We all strive to achieve success in life. But real success is having a balanced life, with a peace of mind. To have a great life, we must first become great human beings. It is no rocket science. Being a great human being is simple but not easy. You need to follow a few simple steps which are not easy. But as you consistently follow them, peace of mind and happiness will become a part of your life. Remember what Robin Sharma says, “To become a great leader, first become a great person’. I have always liked that guy. Here are the 5 steps to become a great human being from Robin Sharma’s ‘The Leader Who Had No Title’.

1. See Clearly

What are your core values and beliefs? What are the things that make you happy? How can you help other people around you live a great life? These are the few questions you must have clear answers to. Clarity precedes mastery. Are you well aware of the direction you wish to give to your life? Are you aware of the things that you need to do to achieve spectacular results? Clarity is the principal per-requisite for you to become a great human being. All the peak performers have one thing in common- clarity. They prioritize everything according to their core beliefs and values? So grab a journal and write down about your dreams, goals, priorities.

2. Health is Wealth

If you ever underestimate the importance of health, go visit a hospital. Being healthy apparently is the biggest blessing you can have. Once you are healthy, you can talk care of your family, you can build your business better, and do everything that you’ve wanted to do. Sadly most people ruin their health with too much alcohol, fast food, and stress. Most of us don’t eat healthy food, never exercise, and don’t sleep enough. Too much technology is bad as well. So, it is important to eat a diet that keeps us healthy and fit. It is important to invest in a fitness club. It is important to do yoga or pranayama regularly. It is important to invest in food which is healthy for us. It is important to include more fruits and green vegetable sin our diet.

3. Inspiration Matters

The third rule is inspiration. We need inspiration on a regular basis. After hearing or reading something inspirational, the level of dopamine and serotonin in our brains increases. With more dopamine and serotonin, we can perform better. So invest in good books, good leadership programs and audio tapes. If you want to double your income, triple your investment in learning and self education. Just like you need to bathe and eat regularly, you need motivation on a regular basis as well. Robin Sharma is a great place to start if you want some inspiration in your life. Read his books ‘The Monk who sold his Ferrari’, ‘The Leader who had not Title’, ‘Greatness Guide’ and many more.  Wake up early and walking in nature is a great way to feel inspired and invigorated.

4.  Don’t Neglect Your Family

Your family is important, very important. People who work late in office and end up feeling stressed neglect their families. It is important to spend some quality time with your family every day. Earning loads of money and being ultra successful is of no use if you don’t take care of your family. It is important for us to have a few loved ones in our loves. So, Honor your parents. Ask any rich person what is the most important thing in life. He’ll answer- Health, food on table, a decent work, and having your loved ones along with you.

5. Elevate your lifestyle

Having a great lifestyle is really important. You need to exercise daily, eat healthy, and work productively. The reason for success is nothing but daily consistent successful habits. So install the habits of a peak performer in your daily routine. These habits in no time will give an incredible peace of mind and happiness. It is important to keep a balance in every single aspect of your life- spiritual, health, family, work, and fitness. Elevating your lifestyle will enhance you productivity in work. You will have insane amount of energy and vitality.

I’ll end it with a good quote by Johny Weir- “Love myself I do. Not everything, but I love the good as well as the bad. I love my crazy lifestyle, and I love my hard discipline. I love my freedom of speech and the way my eyes get dark when I’m tired. I love that I have learned to trust people with my heart, even if it will get broken. I am proud of everything that I am and will become.
